If hazardous (permit-required) confined space(s) is (are) created in the course of construction, Contractor is responsible to ensure compliance with applicable requirements of 29CFR1926. As a minimum:
- Signage and barriers will be placed and continuously maintained to warn of the hazard and to preclude unintentional entry to the space(s).
- A permitting process will be established.
- A rescue service and procedures will be established.
- Contractor/subcontractor employees will be trained on hazards, required personal protective equipment, entry and escape techniques, and rescue procedures.
The Contractor will maintain written lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures; provide required training and practical instruction; and ensure all subcontractors performing work involving, or at risk from, hazardous energy sources do the same.
- If Broward Health, hazardous (permit-required) confined space(s) is (are) to be entered by Contractor or subcontractor employees, Contractor will ensure the required permit(s) is (are) obtained from the Facility Services Department prior to effecting entry in accordance with 29CFR1910.146.
- Director, Facility Services is responsible to brief entering personnel on hazard(s) of the confined space(s) involved, and to provide Entry Supervisor, Attendant, and/or Rescue Service unless otherwise specifically agreed to by Contractor.
