Behavior Level

 

Anxiety: A noticeable or observable change from normal behavior with increased psychomotor agitation.  

         Behaviors may include:

         Feeling of tension

         Increase in physical activity

         Increase in normal volume & rate of speech

         Mild perspiration

         Slight tremors

         Anxious affect

         Facial musculature tension

Staff Attitude/Approach

 

Supportive: An empathic, nonjudgmental approach attempting to alleviate anxiety.

 

         Suggested Interventions:

         Verbal 1:1 intervention,

         Frequent observation,

         Physical activity, offer PRN medication.  

         Try to meet the person’s needs in a therapeutic way.  

         Assist the patient to try interventions that helps him/her.  

         Involve patient’s family when appropriate
